Emily Martin, PhD

Emily Martin is an Associate professor at The University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine in the Department of Medicine. She completed her B.Sc from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in the Department of Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2009. She completed her PhD from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in the Department of Comparative and Experimental Medicine in 2014.
Dr. Martin has been awarded with the Best Oral Presentation in 2014 in the International Symposium on Amyloidosis, Best Poster Presentation in 2013 in the World Molecular Imaging Congress and Best Presentation in the 2012 International Symposium on Amyloidosis.
The Amyloidosis Foundation awarded Emily Martin, a $50,000 junior research grant for her project to evaluate a novel test for identifying patients who have multiple myeloma, or a similar disease, who are at risk of developing light chain (LC) amyloidosis. The grant is known as the Donald C. Brockman Memorial Research Grant. This award is given in memory of one of the co-founders of the Amyloidosis Foundation who passed away in 2004 after being diagnosed with amyloidosis.
