Amyloidosis is a serious condition in which a protein known as amyloidosis is accumulated in various parts of the body leading to various complications. Treatment of this disease depends upon the type, location and severity of the disease. Since amyloidosis is a rare disease, its treatment options are still evolving and some are under clinical trials.
For the treatment of this disease, various drugs are used but it is not mandatory that if these drugs work effectively on one patient, it will have the same effect on others too.
For treatment of primary amyloidosis, various techniques and medications are used to eliminate extra protein from the bone marrow. Chemotherapy with certain drugs, steroids and many more are used to manage this disease. In Familial amyloidosis, a patient should not receive chemotherapy. Patient with secondary amyliodosis complain majorly about liver problem and hence liver transplant is the best option for them.
These treatment options are very individual and are given to a patient after considering his age, organ involved, severity, patient and doctor preferrence.
