Steven R. Zeldenrust, age 56, of Rochester, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, after a long battle with cancer. Steve is survived by his wife of 31 years, Deb (Peterson); sons, Jon (Megan) and Eric (Abbey); grandsons, Theodore and Micah; mother, Joan (Ridder); and sisters, Lauree (Wayne) Pondinas and Mary (John) Rosenbaum.

He completed his graduation from Hope College in chemistry followed by MS from Purdue University and MD from Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Zeldenrust completed his Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Hematology and Oncology from Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. His interest areas included amyloidosis, including the clinical aspects and pathophysiology of the disease. His research focus was the treatment of patients with amyloidosis and myeloma. His laboratory research focused on mechanisms of amyloid protein toxicity. He also conducted clinical trials in the area of familial amyloidosis and performed clinical trials in NCCTG, ECOG, Myeloma SPORE and Mayo in the area of multiple myeloma and amyloidosis.
